Cyanopyridine is a key step in the production of synthetic niacinamide (Vitamin B3) and other specialty chemicals.  CCTI created a technology definition package to aid our client in making their investment decision.  Subsequently CCTI was awarded a basic and detailed engineering contract for this process.

The reaction is highly exothermic and requires careful temperature management to prevent thermal run-away of the reaction.  CCTI designed a heat recovery system to control reaction temperature and to utilize the reaction exotherm to supply most of the heat energy for the entire unit.
